The worst part is spending that much money on a nice big scratching post as my furry mafia likes to scratch vertically. So the sisal wrapped around the poles breaks into pieces so easily and they ruin the real structural integrity if I don't catch it in time. It was a better replacement than the original in the mail. It got much thicker and bigger, so even after a month it didn't tear twice as fast as the previous one. I used gorilla glue on the pole and then wrapped it tight, added some more glue to the end piece and clamped it in place and it's been fine ever since. It also has a decent smell, not as weird as carpets can smell. haha
