Review on Thetford 34100 Style Water Valve by Matthew Bahri

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Works like a charm, then leaks after a few years. :-(

This valve is a replacement for the valve in our RV toilet which has been starting to leak after the water froze in the valve at some point. We use our RV all year round and sometime should be cold enough to freeze the valve I could see streaks (whitish streaks) on the nylon of the valve body suggesting that the plastic was strained Valve body It was leaking when the valve was actuated This valve was a perfect replacement for the original.so far so good.no more leaks lift the toilet to get to the valve UPDATE February 13, 2017: this plastic valve is a POS now it leaks through the seal shaft is shaking this valve has not been exposed to freezing temperatures or no pink stuff in the lines come on thetford dog gammit you make a great toilet and then build a damn cheap valve d up. Make it out of brass or bronze to make it last. I don't care if it's worth $75, replacing it is a pain in the ass! This is a classic case of false austerity. Take care of stupid accountants and make a good faucet. I would happily pay more for a quality product. The problem with this valve is the lack of a bearing surface on the rotating valve shaft for side loads caused by the cantilevered return spring. It exerts excessive stress on a very small area. The shaft bearing should be at least twice as long as it is now, or increase the diameter of the valve shaft, or both. It's just damn bad technique. Update October 24, 2020: Yes, it's leaked again. I'm sick of the Thetford toilets. I will try Dometic now. :-(
