Replacing old brake lines can eliminate or reduce brake overheating.

Replacing brake lines can eliminate brake overheating. Most people blame the calipers for sticking and overheating brakes. If your vehicle is over 100,000 miles or over ten years old, old brake lines can loosen internally and act as hydraulic accumulators, putting unwanted pressure on the brake cylinders even after the brake pedal is released. Adjusting the depth of the brake booster rod in the master cylinder is another overlooked root cause of overheating brakes (resulting in pitted and recessed rotors that shake and vibrate when the pedal is pressed). Worked on my 2000 F150.
