Some advantages include being drawn in by the relatively inexpensive cost and widespread use of such devices. I spaced out the purchase of my two SD cards over the course of a year because the first one worked flawlessly in the CANON 600d camera, and I wanted to use the second one in the video camera. The memory card developed a problem after being used in the Canon 600d for 1 year and a half and storing 4.5 thousand photos, and it could no longer be formatted. None of the native utilities, flashnul, or even the formatting options in the camera were of any assistance. In addition to this, the card broke into two pieces (despite the fact that I did not pull it out of the camera). I then inserted the same card from the camcorder into the camera, and while I was taking images, the card suddenly stopped responding to the recording. The camera takes photographs, sees previews, and can count a certain number of photos, but it does not actually write anything to the memory card. The history of the computer is the same: it visibly transfers it to the card, formats it, and deletes the files; but, if you re-insert the card into the computer, then all of the files are "returned." Also, I have two different dead cards that I purchased at separate periods.
