We got these because we are dark cave dwellers and don't like a lot of light (partly due to headaches/migraines). These lamps fully meet our requirements. They're bright enough to see everything - they light up my whole living room - but they don't blind. They are bright enough than the LED Christmas lights we had so it's perfect. Besides, they are so beautiful. The remote is only about 6 feet, but I'm not too worried about that for our purposes. There wasn't a single burned out lightbulb in my chain, so far everything works fine (just hung it up today). There were a lot of them, they went down two walls of my living room twice, leaving free space. I also like that they run from a wall outlet rather than a battery (the remote uses the battery that came with it). I have already recommended them to a friend for her children's playroom.
