The flashlight has 3 modes: bright, low and strobe. Do you know the idea why there is a flash function, I have never needed a flash function on a flashlight in my life. Light level intense. I can take it outside, shine it on the back of my property about 80 feet away, and it will illuminate the privacy fence like bright daylight. Very bright. I used a flashlight to work on my car's suspension and the light stayed on for hours for many days. Never out of service. I can't say anything about the waterproofness. The flashlight is small and fits in the palm of your hand. There is also a zoom function that can be used to narrow the beam.
