If you're like me, you can't work in the morning until you've had your first cup of coffee. I use different types of coffee makers at home, but I always use a French press for easy brewing. When I saw this travel-friendly press, I immediately ordered it. Most of the hotels you can stay in have some form of coffee maker, but first I saw staff wiping them down with the same cloth they just pushed across the adjoining countertops to clean them! No thank you. I prefer to bring my own Java solution. You'll also need a method of heating the water, of course, which means you'll have access to a room with a microwave or, like mine, a small travel cooking pot that's at least 1/2 liter. Yes, it's not ideal to have two devices taking up valuable luggage space, but if you keep the devices this small, you'll appreciate it. (Not to mention the other option, waiting in line 20 minutes or more to pay $5 for a cup of Starbucks, assuming there's one nearby). I was not disappointed. Its interior is made of glass, which I believe is renewable, hygienic and easy to clean. It's surrounded by some sort of plastic outer layer that feels protective and functional. Not much to say about this other than add my coffee and hot water, wait the usual 4 minutes and then push the plunger. The thrust is a little tight and slow, but it seems to sort out territory as intended. The size is perfectly compact for a full cup, although I didn't measure or mark the actual capacity in ounces. I am very satisfied with the device and can recommend it without hesitation, especially if you travel a lot.
