Review on 🐈 VetriScience Laboratories - Vetri Lysine Plus: Effective Immune Support Supplement for Cats by Louis Nakashima

Probably caused feline acne in a 10 year old cat

We gave them to our cats for years with no visible side effects. But when one of them was 10 years old, he started developing acne on his chin. The vet gave him tests that came back negative and gave him antibiotics but nothing changed. So we started washing his chin every night and switched his diet from chicken to beef, which is already organic and canned, but now raw and undercooked. Fast forward a year and there's still no explanation for the pimples, which we understand aren't exactly uncommon, but now he has a persistent infection at the base of one of his claws. We started feeding him Vetri Lysine Plus more diligently so that the infection would go away. This is not the case and the acne will get worse. And then, because I was under stress, we ran out of Vetri Lysine Plus treats. Packages from Revain take weeks to reach us, but in the meantime the infection and pimples will heal. We haven't changed his food or our nightly habit of washing his chin and soaking his paw in Epsom salt baths. They keep getting better and better until Vetri Lysine Plus treats show up and we feed them to him without thinking. The infection goes away but the pimples come back. We threw away the goodies and the acne has since gone. This should not overload VetriScience Labs. They have served us well for many years. This happened a few months ago, so I don't know if the packages have expired - a sloppiness I'd like to correct. It's also worth noting that neither of the other two cats were harmed, with or without a treat.

Pros
  • L-lysine - an amino acid that helps produce antibodies, hormones and enzymes
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
