Review on ๐ŸŒก๏ธ Leaton Dual-channel LCD Backlight Thermocouple Thermometer for K/J/T/E/R/S/N Great (Batteries included) by Anferny Pineda

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good value for money for a good value dual probe thermocouple thermometer.

Bought as a relatively cheap way to check temperatures where my IR thermostat can't work (like in air ducts). It refreshes the display about twice a second. I've noticed that the two channels don't always read the same temperature when the sensors are close together (e.g. in boiling water), but this seems to be mainly a thermal inertia issue - once the reading stabilizes, the both channels are within 0.5 to 1.5 degrees apart as tested in ice water and boiling water. I tested with another thermocouple sensor from a major instrument manufacturer and both channels of this sensor were about 1 degree Celsius higher. It is likely that the tenths of a degree reading is overly optimistic and should in fact be rounded to the nearest degree. This device has no obvious way to set or calibrate against a known temperature. The control options are easy to use and the buttons will beep when pressed. The backlight turns on and off automatically. The case is made of hard plastic, almost does not flex, but there is no protective cover and stand. If this were a $100 device I'd probably give it a 2 or 3 star rating due to the difference in readings between channels (probably cheap thermocouples), but at this price point I think 4 stars is warranted. For the price I'm reasonably confident that this is a single reading thermometer and with care and careful data collection I think you can do channel comparisons, for example using the temperature difference setting (T1-T2). to check the radiator, air conditioner evaporator or air conditioner condenser.
