These flower bulbs have finally allowed me to keep all the plants I've always wanted. My Ludwigia has turned copper red with a bright red underside, all my plants sometimes go pearly at midday especially when I add Flourish Excel. I just got 10 gallons of Diy co2. I spent about $6 in my LFS on reduced half-dead plants, some of them were just half-leaf roots or stems. After about a week of adaptation and slow growth, these plants skyrocketed, a month later my aquarium turned into an underwater forest. It's very bright but the fish don't seem to mind, even my Bristle Nosed Pleco who comes out to snack during the day. Light produces a lot of algae so make sure you have some kind of algae eater to keep this under control. The light is also very good for seeing the colors of the fish as it is so bright that it reveals a lot of detail. Well, for those with 10 gallons, 18 inches is good, but they must have a hood as the legs don't reach the sides. I was so impressed I have now bought a 48" for my 75 gallon aquarium which I set up and thanks to their 18" light is now planted plentifully and cheaply. that placing it on legs on top of my glass jar was better than placing it horizontally on the glass as the aquarium water had more light scattering. Light, leaves the water column bright but not as bright as the bottom of the tank, the dark substrate helps with that Pros: very bright, light weight, thin, low power consumption Cons: short cord (3ft) Overall, I highly recommend this to anyone who has live plants or just wants a brightly lit aquarium. energy efficient compared to any other form of aquarium lighting and provides the ideal wavelength for freshwater plants meaning much more light is actually used.
