I have used this pressure gate for decades. They've always worked great so I chose them to keep our pup safe and out of some electronics rooms. I gave them away when my youngest granddaughter was growing up. I tried to stick it in the door crack. The design forbids me. The locking bar prevents this because the 4 rubber "stops" are too short. They should be at least ¼-½ longer to avoid this problem. Then I put it right behind the door frame. Everything seemed fine so I ordered a second gate. Then I had to remove that gate for a minute. I noticed that the locking levers had holes made on either side. I didn't push him too hard. I take my time to work down to the minimum voltage required for safety. Again, the problem lies in the design. Rubber stoppers are too short. Protruding a little further would prevent the locking lever from cutting into the walls and/or door gap. Both come back.
