I have used several radon detectors with a security siren over the years. They were all earlier generations than the ones I recently bought. All the previous ones were great until they died after a few years of use. I believe the sensor sets in these things are fragile and have a limited lifespan. Let's see how this new version holds up over the long term, but I'm not at all happy that I can last a few years considering what you get in that time. Knowing the radon level in near real time is very important when moving to a new home in a radon prone area. My previous ones were associated with previous moves and pre and post supervision of the installation of radon purification systems. This unit was purchased because my daughter has just bought a house next door to us so we need to monitor radon levels and decide on the need for a radon purification system. and then after installation track if we get one. She's already on duty giving us rooms in her master bedroom (the most important place since that's where you spend a lot of time). Once we have the rooms we'll look at the basement and a few other spots in the house. So far her numbers are way better than ours but she tends to implement a fix system. The time will show. This is a good product that allows you to do routine monitoring and testing without sending containers to the lab, paying for individual tests, etc. You can just use the monitor anywhere, anytime and collect information about the radon levels that are a problem (if you have any). have and where in the house it can occur. Doing the same with lab test canisters would be tedious and expensive.
