Vintage guitar strap for modern "catalog " guitars

Years ago, before the ubiquitous guitar strap arrived in all its colorful glory, singers and musicians often used a fretboard strap that fastened with a button at the bottom became the fretboard to hold their acoustic guitar when they played standing up. Every new acoustic guitar bought in the early 70's came with one of these cables free, and one could even be slipped into the pocket of the guitar case when purchased. The tassel was usually attached to the end of the fretboard neck cord as a decoration only. Singing cowboys were almost always photographed with these cords around their necks and holding guitars. In many Hollywood movies of the 30's and 40's - and even some movies of the 50's - actors used collars. The greats Nick Lucas, Gene Autry and Desi Arnaz are just a few of them. Well, that venerable guitar cable is long gone from stores, BUT this exhaust cable is a promising replacement, especially for capturing the vintage look of those inexpensive catalog guitars from the 30's and 40's. Gretsch Jim Dandy and the Recording King Dirty 30 are just two examples of modern versions of guitars from the original catalogue. This cord is twisted instead of braided like the original neck cords, but this cord is made of polyester instead of cotton. I have some long made hard pulls, and while the twist is somewhat stretched under significant tension, it mostly comes back when relaxed. and the cable itself seems more than strong enough to support the weight of one of those catalog-style acoustic guitars. Of course, those old-fashioned cutouts are going to be pretty unwieldy to carry the masses of dreadnought, concert, and jumbo guitars. And nobody would ever dare use it to support a semi-hollow or solid-body electric guitar, as the sheer weight of these guitars would most likely cause a rope burn on the wearer's shoulder if the cable wasn't first would tear. But if you're nostalgic, looking for an acoustic guitar neck cable, to simply complement the vintage look of your lightweight "catalog" style guitar, and don't mind some very minor trimming and creative binding, then these cables may just be what you need. pursue. They are majestically colorful and inexpensive enough for any experiment. Of course, how long synthetic brushes last is another story. Have fun.
