I have been using cylinder ring compressors for some time. I rebuilt the engine with liners and the pistons were tight. I wasn't able to compress the rings enough to fit in the hub with the barrel compressor. I have found several other compressors that cost over $100. To save some money I took a chance and it works perfectly. I can lower the piston into the cylinder almost four times faster than with a cylindrical compressor because the ratchet handle only takes a compression or two to fully compress the rings. With a cylindrical compressor I would struggle with the ratchet handle trying to compress the rings all the way and what a pain when there is some oil on my hands. I should have bought this many years ago.
