I was very happy to receive this meat thermometer, I have many Brookstone products from years ago and they are all excellent and still working. It was rather disappointing. Straight out of the box it seems very cheap, I was shocked. I gave it a try anyway, thinking it must be better than my old cheap meat thermometer that died on me a few weeks ago. It's easy to use, just turn it on and stick it in the meat. It has options to save temperature readings and you can switch it between Fahrenheit and Celsius. I cooked a whole roast chicken. I've made hundreds of chickens over the years and almost know when it will be ready, but love checking the temperature to be on the safe side. Never have I ever overcooked chicken. I'm usually around 175 degrees. When I put it in it showed 220 degrees which means it was overcooked and dry. This chicken was perfect and juicy as always, so this thermometer is not accurate. I also don't think it will last very long because after washing the water gets into the block and doesn't drain, I shook it and heard the water. I didn't fill it, I just gave it a quick wash with a rag. I'm really disappointed that something bearing the Brookstone name has gone so bad, maybe they aren't what they used to be.
