This lamp is ready to use. All you have to do is plug in the included power cord and it's ready to go. I love that you don't need to buy a light bulb for this as the flashlight has an energy saving LED built in. I also love the fact that it can be rotated 360 degrees, giving light wherever it's needed. There is a touch switch at the base to turn the light on and off, and the switch provides 3 lighting modes (white light, warm light and natural light). When the light is turned off and on again, it remembers the last mode used. I particularly like that the USB power cable can be plugged into a laptop, power bank or adapter to power this lamp. This lamp can be used as a portable light source. When the power cord is connected, the indicator lights up. When it's red, it means it's charging, and when it's fully charged, the light goes out. What I really like about this lamp is the lack of glare.
