I had a metal one before. Looks almost identical. I switched to this one when I had a small scratch on the right controller. Metal is harder than plastic. I definitely recommend it. Replace the screws, although the screws that came with the kit are junk. The photo shows how I ripped the head off a screw by simply screwing it in. Didn't try tightening hard, didn't want to break the plastic. It looked like a screw with a "quick release head". Fast screws, but otherwise I like it.
