Although I have the structured junction box this item was designed for, it is important to note that it will also work in a regular J-Box. It comes with a metal junction box that is designed for insertion into a structured panel, but you can remove it and insert it into a standard box. Remember that the outlet is larger than a standard unprotected outlet and you should make sure you have enough space in the box. If you have two of these in a standard or flat J-Box, things get really tight. Also note that you can attach it to protect downstream circuits. I ended up plugging in a surge-protected outlet above my structured wiring closet, where I have a wall shelf for my networking equipment.
