Excellent OS should be used with caution

Have been using Muhle R89 and Merkur 34C HD closed comb safety razors for about 2 months. Similar heads. Both are excellent. Decided to try a razor with a more open blade and based on reviews and experience with the R89 settled on the Muhle R41. Heed the warnings to be careful with this more aggressive head. My impression? Aesthetically pleasing and beautifully designed. In this respect, Mühle is superior to Merkur. The Merkur clutch is better but not as nice as the Mühle. The R41 blade angle differs from these closed-comb safety razors in that the blade is not curved as much in the head. Great for me when shaving tight skin on face. It is difficult to shave under the chin and neck where the surface of the skin is uneven, poorly visible and less taut. Over time, R41 handling skills are likely to improve. Until then, I prefer the closed comb for the chin and neck, even if I don't have time. Update a month later: At first I was discouraged every time I got a cut or two and was willing to put it off. But with practice and adjustments, I began to understand the technique required to work with such an open blade. The blade angle and light touch are key to this razor. Some recommend using the razor handle down and close to the face. This positions the blade at an angle of about 60 degrees to the skin. Resolutely disagree. Instead, place the handle perpendicular to the face, almost parallel to the ground, and then tilt it down slightly until the blade touches the beard and skin, at about a 20-30 degree angle to the skin, and try that to maintain position. Corner. Use a gentle grip on the handle and a very light touch. More is not required and the frequency of cuts is noticeably reduced. Shaving with R41 requires more time and attention than with R89, but the shave is closer.
