Review on Shure SRH440 Professional Studio Headphones by Claudia Corpus

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Disappointing at best.

Bought these when my AKGs died and received them overnight as I was thrilled to have them. feels on top. Maybe I have a funny head, maybe not. Also, my SRH440s are currently broken. Yes. A week after I bought it, the headphone jack in my 1/4" jack adapter broke after the thread failed (jammed or mismanaged, I'm not sure) and seems stuck in there forever. The headphones made a grainy, thin, fluffy sound when recording 48000 @ 24 bit. Not sure if it was my DAW/interface but I doubt it as my last pair which were cheaper and lower quality sounded almost better. Generally before they broke after a week of use. I found the Shure SRH440 heavy and cannot live up to Shure's reputation for build quality and durability. Aside from the lint and headphone jack, the headband padding is thin and stiff. I would like this price range with more padding under the headband. Maybe some kind of padding under the skin/skin?

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • For old
