First let me say that I wanted to take some time before writing this review. My truck: 2001 F150 5.4L 4X4 with 150K on the clock key and using my air tools. The first intake manifold Dorman sent me looked like it was sent to someone else first. I didn't notice until I received the package from my postman. Upon inspecting the manifold, I noticed how many others have pointed out in their reviews that the air intake is actually smaller (more on that later). I also noticed that the BLUE water jacket gasket (driver's side, rear) is missing. I called the Amazon service department. and WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM they sent me ANOTHER collector with NO QUESTIONS! AMAZON ROCKS! I had to wait another 2-3 days to receive it. While I had the top half removed, I replaced all of the spark plugs, dust boots, springs, dielectric grease, all electrical connections, etc. This is MY truck, so I'll get it right the first time. Well, as other reviewers have noted in their concerns about LOSS OF POWER with an "updated" intake manifold plenum that is too small. This concern has not escaped me, in fact it is a very VALID COMMENT. The motor is NOT as "harsh" to begin with and does NOT pull as hard as it used to when you get it running with your foot. I have a full size truck and need this performance. The only positive is that my fuel economy has improved, but I tow, tow, etc. so I don't really care about fuel economy. I must have enough strength to do the job. done.So.Why only THREE STARS?1. The 1st intake manifold was missing the blue water jacket gasket but all the other thermostat screws etc were in the bag. Revain was AMAZING and sent me another one right away! So it was very cool. 2. I did NOT like that Dorman used self-tapping screws for the mounting brackets and spools. NOTICE TO DORMAN. Please spend 0.75ct more and put the Friggen inserts in your headers and use machine screws so you don't risk REMOVE THE F_ING COIL PAK!3 SCREWS when swapping out the plugs. The plenum is smaller so be aware that you will lose power but your fuel economy will increase. 4. Self tapping screws suck, but if you're looking for an inexpensive solution this is the part! top This job will take a newbie a weekend as there are many "steps" to replacing this part. It's not as hard as it sounds and YOUTUBE IS YOUR FRIEND, take your time, take pictures while filming everything, hoses, vacuum line etc and you'll be fine. Once I had ALL the parts it took me about 5 hours to install everything and start the engine. The manifold has been on my truck for 6 weeks now and is still working. helpful and I've tried to be as detailed as possible. Give me a thumbs up as this will help others who need to do this exchange. Therefore, check the distributor when you receive it.
