Review on Double Prong Heavy Leather Grommet Men's Accessories and Belts by Michael Jennings

High quality leather but there are problems with the belt

Conclusion First: buy this belt. Competitive belts of this type and quality are significantly more expensive. GOOD: Very good quality and the price is right compared to similar full grain leather belts. The skin is thick and feels comfortable. Two months of daily wear and no signs of tearing or stretching like inferior leather or faux belts. Fits well into the belt loops of Lee Riders, Wranglers, Levis - tight and perfect except as noted below. SIZE: I bought size 34-36 to wear with 34 inch pants. They fit well but are a little longer - not enough to be an issue but I would have preferred them to be a little shorter. difficult to insert into holes. The manufacturer's photo shows that they are simply sharp cut and not tapered or rounded like most other belts. Ten minutes of using a file and sandpaper to round off the ends of the prongs and taper them slightly fixed the problem for me. Second, the double thickness at the end of the buckle, where the belt folds on its own and has two latches to hold it in place, is too thick and bulky to fit into the belt loops of my jeans or other pants. The belt is centered and comes out of the buckle at an angle. Also, the bulky device is a bit uncomfortable, which is why some others have complained that the buckle irritates their stomachs. To solve this problem, I had the cobbler remove the tabs, cut off the backing, fold the piece back over, leaving just enough to hold the leather loop, thinning it slightly to a taper, and sewing it firmly to the belt itself. Now the belt fits the pant belt loops pretty much halfway down the middle, and the buckle area is less bulky. The holes on the front of the belt where the buttons have been removed are not a problem as the end of the belt will cover them. It's like a gun sling or tool sling worn outside of your pants' belt loops, the initial placement of the buckle isn't a problem. I really like this belt - even more so after solving the issues that were bugging me so I gave it a 4 rating. If he didn't have the two issues I mentioned, he would easily have earned a 5.
