Exactly what I was looking for.

I bought this after living with a long slot Breville toaster for a couple of years. This worked well, but the controls were on the side and the only space I had for them resulted in a position where the controls ended on the side panel. This meant that every time I needed to use the toaster I had to pull it out of the wall. That and after a few years he developed a bad habit of burning everything unless I stood over him and watched him like a hawk. Time for a new toaster. After reading reviews, looking at and comparing several other brands, I decided to give this one a try. I've had it for 3 weeks now and so far I'm loving it. First the main reason I bought it: the controls are dead. It's a little smaller than my old toaster so fits nicely in the same space. The cord is long enough to reach the plug approximately 9" high and 6" to the right of the toaster - it fits easily into an outlet. is another 6 inches or so further (I wrapped it once around the cable guide at the base). The slots are wide enough to accommodate bagels and long enough to accommodate the broad width of some of the artisan loaves that are so popular today. I also make my own bread and that works well for that too. So how is it fried? It took a few tries to get the settings right, and it depends on what I'm toasting (artisan breads, bagels, frozen waffles, etc.). Heat may be slightly uneven, but that's not critical - no burned or undercooked areas, just slight color variations. Yes, it squeaks quite loudly. But I live alone so I don't worry too much about waking up others. If you're a light sleeper, you might want to consider this. tion.Bottom line: I am very happy with this. It's not perfect, but it works well and seems durable enough to be used multiple times a week for at least a couple of years. Solid 4 stars.
