Review on πŸ“· Rohent R12: High-Def Wireless Backup Camera for RV HD 1080P | 7 Inch Touch Key DVR Monitor | IP69 Waterproof | Easy RV/truck Compatibility by Tony Weber

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent picture quality

The only thing that bothered me a little - well, two things - 1, I wish there was a shutter release cable that I could plug into the back rather than from the back to supply with electricity. like the camera I installed on my truck. That way I could turn it on and run it separately so I can see what I'm dragging, on demand, but always when I reset. The other issue, as another reviewer mentioned, is that the wires are *very* thin, making them difficult to crimp, and my setup would have made soldering unacceptable (short distance), so I could only use crimp connectors. I solved this problem by folding the wire so it was twice as thick when I started crimping, so we'll see how long that takes. Another reviewer pointed out that using scotchlock/"suitcase" connectors would also be prohibitively expensive due to wire gauge, but I was able to use the "T-Bends" I left in another project (see https:/ /www..amazon .com/gp/product/B07MPP6JV1 or search for ASIN B07MPP6JV1) where I could crimp a male onto camera cable and then plug it into a faucet - and you can mix and match sizes with these, as opposed to Plug cases so I could use the yellow (10-12 ga) on the RV side and red (22-18 ga) on the camera/monitor side. I have used drywall anchors when screwing in the plastic inner panel (see image) and fiberglass back cover of my RV for added rigidity over time. turn off the screen when I'm not using it - and it remembers how you left it when you turn it off, so you don't have to turn it off every time you start, which made me really happy. I'll probably take another commenter's advice and switch these marker lights to LEDs to maximize the available power on this circuit, but so far I haven't had any issues although I haven't ridden. I'll update this with any ideas. Oh, one more setup tip: buy a multimeter if you don't already have one - you really should have at least a cheap one from Harbor Freight if you have an RV - but I don't know how else to tell pluses from minuses in my parking light chain; For lighting purposes it doesn't matter so both wires from the light are black. Find a way to get to a bare wire even if you have to pierce the insulation, and in constant voltage mode if you get a positive number your leads will be properly positive to negative. Be prepared to mark a thing or two with tape or something. Overall the picture quality was excellent, as you can see from the picture it was actually better than the wired camera in my truck. As I have a motorhome and not a caravan I don't have range issues so I can't speak about that. Very happy with my purchase and the seller's response to any questions I had.
