Review on 🐾 Premium Large Cat Litter Mat 35"x23": Trapping Messes with Ease, Easy to Clean, Durable, Scatter Control - Gentle on Kitty Paws by Laura Pena

Great mat - large coverage area, soft paw texture, beautiful appearance

This mat is different from the plastic loop mats I've seen in the pet section of stores. It has a softer, more pliable texture and the loop pile is lower and denser so there's much less chance of claw snagging, but enough pile and texture to limit the spread of dirt. Another detail I like is that from a distance it looks like a regular rug and the large area it covers. Cats seem to walk on it (and even lounge and play on it) well and it seems to be able to stay in place normally on tiled floors, although I fasten one side under the tray to make sure it stays put stays in place. I currently have a rug on my enclosed porch (it replaced a large ribbed Litter Maid toilet rug which has worked well for me but has started to deteriorate) and I'm hoping it will stand up to the extra sun exposure it will be getting. For size comparison, I've included a picture of the rug next to the Nature's Miracle Hooded Corner Tray and Litter Genie bin. One of my cats also helpfully posed on the carpet. This is a large cat in terms of body length, weighing around 13 pounds. I also included a closeup of the plastic pile of loops. No litter box will stop the litter from spreading but this one does a good job and I think when the time comes it will be a lot easier to clean with soap and water than my previous carpet based litter box. Garbage scatter, but I wanted to give some more information. I originally thought the pad wasn't porous enough to prevent liquids from seeping through. However, this is not the case. Although it takes time, the liquids will eventually penetrate the substrate. All of my litter boxes are on tiled floors, so it's not a big deal to me, but if you have carpet, and especially if you have a cat who is prone to having accidents with peeing out of the crate, this will end up leaking , when you're not around, to blot the liquid if it happens. Because of this absorption rate, the laundry also takes a long time to dry. To be honest they only state that it is waterproof just wanted to clarify any expectations in that area.

Pros
  • Pampered paws - give your cats a reason to purr. Her lucky cat blanket is soft on her little fingers and helps her clean her paws before climbing back onto the curtains.
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
