Although Oster looks like a powerful blender, it comes at a price. This is the loudest mixer I have ever heard and I have returned it to Revain for a refund. It's so loud when mixed that your ears hurt from close proximity. Another thing I noticed is the burnt plastic smell when it's running. I also had a Waring blender that smelled the same (and was very noisy, too) for the six or seven years I've owned it. The Waring still works, but the burnt plastic smell hasn't gone away, and I was worried the Oster would do the same. In general, I stay away from these two mixer manufacturers, at least on their newer models.
