Review on XM1000Pro Wireless Transmission Transmitter Streaming by Jerome Turner

System with potential but not yet

I've been testing this system for over a week and am really testing these devices now. Here is a breakdown of what I experienced with these units. FYI I tested them with a Panasonic GH5S and a Feelworld monitor along with my Samsung S10E mobile app phone. First, the transmitter's LED screen was shifted and the top quarter of the display was cropped and brought back to the bottom of the screen. Screen. I contacted the company and they provided me with updated firmware to install. So if you get version 1.1.4, you might need to do that too. However, after this update I encountered a new problem. About every 1 out of 3 times I use this system I've seen those weird yellow flickering dots on the display as you can see in the test image here. Restarting the camera did not fix the problem. Neither the receiver nor the monitor have restarted. I had to reset the transmitter for the problem to go away, only to come back later. You must ensure that you turn on the camera AFTER turning on the transmitter. When you turn on the camera first, the transmitter does not recognize the video signal. The mobile app is currently not working. When you first download the app, the language is set to Chinese. By the way, the name of the app is Wheatfield of Hope. You have to change the language to English, but it's a bit difficult since everything is in Chinese, as I said. Once you can change the language, other dialogs remain in Chinese. All options like focus peaking, histograms and false colors do not work. If you select them, either nothing happens or you get a "I'm better" message. The fans are pretty loud, but you can go into the settings and turn off the fans. However, the units heat up fairly quickly and I would be concerned about stability over long periods with the fans off. The build quality is solid. About on par with the Hollyland Mars series. The signal strength seems to be good. I walked about 20 feet down the hall from my studio and closed the door, but I still had a signal. Currently, these devices are not very usable due to the screen distortion issues and mobile app not working. Consider the premium price of $569 at the time of this review. This system can have potential. Perhaps with some additional firmware updates and of course some additional coding of the app to make it work, this could be a nice user-friendly system. In their current form, however, they are unsuitable for me.

Pros
  • Dual HDMI+SDI input and HDMI loop out
Cons
  • Big and bulky
