Ordered a size 8 for a boy. The back would suit J.Lo. The legs and length are perfect for an average 8 year old. The waist is huge and needs a belt. I wouldn't buy them again although they are really comfortable and he loves them. But once he realizes how stupid and baggy he looks, I doubt he'll wear them. The belt just adds another complication. I wish they had an adjustable waist and I don't know who takes the measurements, but most kids don't have a bag of potatoes in each buttock with normal legs.
