Waist buckle is detachable, sew on to secure
I had to fold it in half and sew on the end of the belt for the waist straps. It must be firmly attached to the bag and cannot be removed. I'm a skinny guy and my riding jacket's belt buckle popped out of this clip (pictured) and flapped in the wind.
