Rawhide shoelaces broke the second time I put them on. I didn't do anything particularly tiring in it, just walked from the bedroom to the kitchen and back a few times, etc. I never left the house, let alone the basement or garage. They weren't tight either. I was out walking and the laces snapped. I've read other reviews about the drop in quality and this leads me to believe this is true. For the price paid for these shoes I never expected such a simple but important problem right after the first use. I do a lot of hiking and military marching, so luckily I know a thing or two about shoelaces and have them handy. I was able to re-lace both shoes with about 550 coyote colored paracord style laces that go pretty well with them. Then cut and burn the replacement laces to size. But getting the laces through the heel was a big problem, a lot bigger problem than I expected from a product at this price point.
