Review on ๐Ÿ•ถ๏ธ Convenient Interior Sunglasses Holder for Audi, Porsche, and VW Models: TTCR-II by Nick Tucker

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works well - please read the review for tips!

I ordered two of these for my A3 and while the video was helpful I have a few extra tips. For starters, removing the old handle is easier with two tools as shown in the video. Unfortunately there is only one in the kit so I recommend ordering two at once (one for the passenger and one for the driver) so you get two tools. Removing the existing handle is by far the most difficult part of the job. I found it easier to insert the removal tools into the rounded hinge end of the lid rather than the top as shown in the video. Once the lid was loose enough, I was able to remove the handle with a tug. Another thing to keep in mind when removing the handle is that the old clips can be difficult to remove. They're spring metal and if you're not careful with them they'll fly off your needle nose pliers and into the back of your car (which happened to me). I'm not sure where it went but it doesn't seem to rattle so I just left it there. Fitting the cover is relatively easy in comparison. Be sure to insert the white plastic pieces straight and not at an angle. I'd recommend using a magnetic-tipped Phillips screwdriver (long-handled so your hand doesn't block your view). Otherwise, holding the lid open and tightening the screw may be a bit difficult. Once you've fitted it, it's a quality part worthy of your German car. They even have little plastic tabs to cover the exposed screw heads, but you still can't see them. Lots of attention to detail. I gave it five stars because it's not their fault the old pin is hard to get out. For sunglasses, remember that the holder works better with flat lenses than with curved ones. I have curved glasses and the case doesn't close completely.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Poorly thought out
