I have a gas water heater in my laundry room and it is terrible when the heater heats the water. The exhaust pipe gets very hot and can burn you if you get close enough. I came up with this idea to insulate it (just like a car head) and dissipate heat from the surrounding area. I carefully wrapped the exhaust port and secured the ends with stainless steel zip ties. Bingo, they lowered the temperature in the room and the pipe is no longer a threat. Although it's still very warm, it won't burn you anymore. The quality of the bandage is excellent, fits well and holds tight. I assume this would probably work in the automotive industry as well, or anywhere you need a film that can withstand high temperatures.
