Something good, something bad for computer components

So the good first. Price. This is a budget motherboard and it has a lot of what other much more expensive motherboards have. It has 3 M.2 slots and 8 SATA slots, so you always have the option to connect storage to it. The board also features onboard DP and HDMI ports, so you can connect modern monitors even if you don't have a dedicated graphics card. The board doesn't have built-in WiFi, but there's an option to install an M.2 WiFi card on it, which is a nice feature if you want to add onboard WiFi or Bluetooth. The BIOS is easy to use and navigate, and there's also the option to enable the XMP profile for RAM. I bought 3200MHz RAM and it only reads 2666MB out of the box, but with a few quick clicks in the BIOS I was able to get up to 3200. I haven't overclocked yet, but it looks like it. This is quite difficult in the BIOS. So my complaints, firstly, is that there is only one USB 2.0 port. I was able to get around this (I needed two) by buying a Corsair Commander Pro, but you may need to consider buying an internal NZXT USB hub depending on what you're connecting. There are several USB 3.0 ports on the board, but one of them is unusable due to its location, with a large GPU interfering with anything plugged into it. I'm not sure why they chose to put it where they did, but luckily there's another one on the bottom of the board that I was able to use for my cases with an integrated USB 3.0 cable . I'm using a fairly large GPU (ASUS ROG 2080 Super) so maybe a smaller GPU wouldn't hurt. However, if you're using a GPU (of any size), it will cover one of the M.2 slots. It probably doesn't matter much if you install it first, but if you ever want to add another M.2 device to that particular slot, you'll need to remove and install the GPU first. My biggest problem with the board is the drivers. One of the first things I did after installing Windows was to update all drivers. However, when updating the PCI drivers, the board stopped posting. I had to completely reinstall Windows. I didn't know it was the first time so after installing the drivers I had to wipe the drive a second time and reboot a second time. This could be related to the BIOS version I'm running and maybe the drivers would be fine if I flashed a new BIOS, but for now I've decided to just leave the PCIe drivers as they are because they work, but be careful with the drivers you install. If I were to buy another motherboard today, this wouldn't be what I would choose, but if you're looking for a cheaper board with lots of nice features that come out of the box, this might work for you. Edit: After I installed the chipset drivers from AMD's website, the PCIe driver issue was resolved. I increased the rating by 1 star but still think I would charge a different fee if I built a different car.

Pros
  • Intel Gigabit LAN, AS Rock Polychrome SYNC
Cons
  • Not the best
