Could be softer/quieter but good price

I bought this for my son because all the reviews said this pillow is pretty flat. Well, not flat enough for him. It's comfortable enough for me (although it has an annoying noise that would bother me if I used it to sleep because I'd notice it every time I moved), but it's too high for his neck and rustles not a bit harder than I expected. Other reviewers said it flattened out over time. I put it under the mattress and sit in it and try to straighten it but it doesn't work.
