I love this palette! It's perfect for use with watercolor pencils, the rough side works like sandpaper, just draw some lines, put water on the brush and voila! Instant watercolor paint! I use it when I need to wash out a color and sometimes some colors applied with a pencil don't spread easily when applied directly to the paper. It's also very handy for pre-mixing colors from your pens to create a new shade, tone or tint. The smooth side can be used for coloring and blending. It's a small palette but that's one of the reasons I like it so much, it's easy to carry, hold and clean. I'm a happy customer.
