Review on Plantronics Voyager 5200 UC (Poly) Monaural Headset - Connect to PC/Mac, Teams, Zoom & More with Noise Canceling by Agata Konarska ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Matches the description completely, very satisfied.

This is my fifth or sixth Voyager. Prior to that, there were PRO and PRO HD models. I didn’t like the Legends version because of the magnetic charging, I didn’t take it. Compared to older models, the 5200 has become a little more compact. But landing personally for me is less comfortable: the ear gets tired more. Maybe I'll get used to it. This is my first Voyager in the UC version with a charging case and a "whistle" for connecting to a computer. It connects to the computer easily and naturally, the sound is good. But I use 99% with the phone. The quality of communication in comparison with the old models (I don’t consider Legends) has become really better. I can be heard well, do not ask again. There is no fear that I am hard to hear and that's great! But there is one nuance that was not on the old models. If I talk on the street with a hood on my head, the quality of speech transmission drops sharply. Apparently microphones and electronics are not designed for such a use case. In the hood, it is almost impossible to speak on the headset. You shoot and everything is fine again. Keep in mind! One nuance. Old headsets died mainly due to the rupture of the rubber shackle. I didn’t particularly care for headsets: I often took them off my ear and hung t-shirts or sweaters on a hook on the collar. It took a year and a half. Now I understand that such treatment kills the elastic in the upper part, where the load is greatest. With proper care, the headset can last three years or more. The headset is quite large. But this has its own plus. It feels like a THING in your hand or pocket. You always know where it is, where you put it. Compact headsets were constantly lost, not so with Voyager. The charging case is convenient, sometimes I take it with me. I charge by putting it on top in a charging case, it’s convenient. At the same time, micro USB is saved for charging with a regular cable! To sum up: this is the best headset I have ever had, I recommend it!

Pros
  • Sound quality in both directions
Cons
  • You are very hard to hear when wearing a hood
