This "12 watt" lamp turns out to be a lot dimmer than the 8 watt Holan table lamp I've had for a long time (both claimed 1000 lumens) ). 12W is the rating of a 24V 500mA power supply, which also produces an annoying high-pitched squeak. The lamp itself consumes about 9.5 watts from the wall, or just under 7 watts from the power supply. I don't find the light output or color quality sufficient for use as project or craft lighting, but perhaps suitable for reading. Attaching the remote to a lamp or other metal object magnetically is a good trick to avoid losing it. All controls are accessible from the lamp itself, with the exception of the sleep timer and direct access to presets. Installation is easy, all tubes, the base and the flexible neck are made of metal, the lamp head is made of plastic. Folding it back into the box is more difficult, it is returned due to dullness, color quality and a squeaky power supply.
