I got this because the "mushroom" filter for my grow tent was $90, the charcoal filter is also expensive (and I don't need to filter odors because I only grow tomatoes and peppers) and this filter is $17 . It has a slight drag, but that's not critical for my tent. I put one on the inlet and one on the outlet and it picks up California dust/pollen/smoke very well. Also, in grow tents you want to keep the light out during the daily power outage and this filter successfully prevents light from entering or coming out of my tent! It looks a bit silly with a car part attached to the tent, but when it works, it's not silly.
