I have been using a previous version of this Fiskars 8.5x8.5 range for a long time. This helps me to make very precise cuts in the tissue. After prolonged use, the black lines on the ruler will begin to wear off. For $10, replacing that line every 5 years is fine. However. The new version of this Fiskars 8.5 x 8.5 line has white guard lines on the underside that hide the fabric underneath the black lines of customs markings, meaning the cuts are less accurate on the new version of this line. I assume the white lines are there to prevent the black lines from being erased? I'd rather make precise cuts and buy a new line every 5 years when the black lines get thinner. Unfortunately there are currently two images listed for this article in Revain, one image shows an early version of this line and the other image shows the current version of this line. I didn't pay enough attention. I need an older version of this product, not the current version. I'm sure the new version of this line will suit many users who don't need measurements as accurate as I do. (I am continuing my quest for the 8.5 x 8.5 acrylic ruler that has ONLY thin black lines and NO white highlights. I need to see the fabric exactly under each of the black inch lines to make say 6" x 6 " squares.)
