Don't believe the good reviews - this is a joke. They don't open - the hinges are so tight and the handles are so slippery (and small) that it takes two hands to open them. The problem with two hands is that there is no other hand to hold the hair while you are trying to undo the hair clip. Being unhappy with it (to say the least) I bought a similar clip which I just love. It's on the Revain, a large octopus clamp with a non-slip Scunci grip. It's basically the same hair pin but it opens with no problem and the inside of the pins have a rubber coating which helps them hold the hair very well. According to the Revain listing, model 3615903A048. Skip this version and choose Scunci (nobody paid me or convinced me to say that!)
