Don't believe the good reviews - this is a joke. They don't open - the hinges are so tight and the handles are so slippery (and small) that it takes two hands to open them. The problem with two hands is that there is no other hand to hold the hair while you are trying to undo the hair clip. A few years ago I had a squid clip that I really liked so I bought them thinking they were the same but they were turned out to be more than I expected. I can still use them but they don't seem to be as firm and reliable as I would like. I have pretty thick hair so you will probably need very thick hair to really use it and feel good.
