Review on Top-notch Print Removal Toolkit by Carlos Massey

Fantastic tool for working with PLA prints on a 3D printer Monoprice Maker Select Plus

Ever since I bought my Monoprice Select Plus printer, I've had trouble removing my prints from the build plate and damaging the mounting surface in the process. I'm still fairly new to 3D printing and am working on getting my prints set up properly. I used the included disassembly tool but managed to seriously damage the build plate by trying to work it under structures and rafts. I learned a lot from those first prints in the two weeks of non-stop printing, but getting the print off the surface was still a bit of an issue for me. Last week I managed to scrape a large imprint across my palm that didn't move (and I was careless with sloppy placement), which was the final straw. removed the seal and came across this set. Given the cost I think it won't hurt to try. As soon as I removed the items from the package, I realized it would be better than the tool I was using. Both tools have almost flat profiles on the ends of the blades. The longer tool has a small beveled edge that allows you to get under the pressure and then pry it off for extra leverage. The smaller tool has been my go-to since I've had the set. The angle of the blade to the handle allows me to easily guide it at an angle or along an edge and work under and around the perimeter without damage. The smaller tool is about 0.25mm thick so you can really work under the pressure. For comparison, my scraper is 0.65 mm thick at the narrow edge. For large prints I turn off the little tool as soon as I start to get leverage so I can work fully under the pressure. Has worked great on the 7 prints I've used it on so far. Both tools have an excellent combination of rigidity and flexibility, allowing them to get the job done well. Overall very happy with the tools and wish I had changed them a week ago to avoid cutting myself!

Pros
  • A must-have addition to your 3D printer supplies; No more spatulas to remove prints. Can be used as a leveling tool to scrape sticky plastic off the build plate.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
