I've seen mixed reviews but mine works great. Looks very solid compared to cheaper radios with fewer features. I like the weather forecast reception mode and the alarm function. If the weather changes while I'm away, I can turn on the local weather frequency and get updates. Switching from high-power broadcasting to low-power broadcasting is done with the two corresponding PTT (push to talk) buttons. My old radios required a mode/menu change. The first seven channels (FRS) were compatible with my old radios. The waterproof appearance makes it suitable for all outdoor activities without worrying about getting caught in the rain or accidentally falling into a puddle or stream. Headphones with built in PTT, batteries and charger were a bonus. I saw some other reviews that said the charger didn't work. Mine worked fine. Overall I think these are good mid-range radios that will meet most people's needs.
