Review on Headphones Sony MDR-XB800 by Barbara Krakowiak ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not the best quality, but generally not bad.

The MDR-XB500 came before them in the lineup. The bass is fuller and there is less ambient noise, but the craftsmanship of the 500 is superior, and while the xb700 would be a step up, the difference in sound quality between the two is not dramatic. The sound quality is comparable to that of Sony, but I did not particularly notice any differences between the analog and digital versions, especially considering that the digital version costs half as much and has a flat, tangle-free cord. Its cons: The construction's poor quality is a major letdown. The plastic makes a creaking sound. It only happens very rarely while he is really using headphones, but it is very unpleasant when they are hanging around his neck. They are covered with a low-quality synthetic material, which started to flake off about a month later on the darling and about six months later on the ears themselves. This happened to both sets of ears. They initially exerted a great deal of force on the ears, but by this point, the ears have either become accustomed to the pressure or have extended out.
