I have been using California Scents Cherry in my cars for over 10 years. I change the lenses every 4 months or so. The smell - I get a compliment every time a new person gets into my car. It's very rare that I don't. They recently helped me load my groceries into the car and I got compliments. Yes, when you first plugged it in I had a surge. RECOMMENDATION: Leave in the car overnight and air out in the morning before driving. I live in Texas, so expect an overpowering, gag-worthy smell when you decide to pop it in your car and drive on in the heat of the day. Open it up and put it in the cup holder and slide it under the seat in the morning. I personally like these glasses and highly recommend them.
