I'm looking at a London Gold Scooter. I don't have much, if any, experience with scooters. The last time I rode a scooter was 8 years old. 30 years later I have to keep up with my 8 year old who drives a Razor A5 DLX. Both scooters are larger and suitable for adults. and I can drive both. The DLX is much smaller, shorter and lighter, the max handlebar height is barely enough for me (I'm 5ft 8in). I bought a London model and have been driving it for a few days. I was very impressed with the quality of the scooter out of the box. Not sure how it will hold up in the long run, but I plan to put it to good use this summer. The coolest thing about this scooter is the folding mechanism - it's powered by a loop at the top of the handlebars to keep it from bending; When folded, the front wheel snaps between the deck's lugs - it won't wobble or bang on your ankles. I tested the trolley function at a local grocer: you have to be careful not to scratch the ends of the deck that "hug" the front wheel, otherwise it's very nice if you don't want to leave the scooter outside. This is a heavy scooter. It's also larger than most teenage and adult scooters. My child can ride and carry most teen and adult scooters but not this one. In addition, the handlebars are higher than on most scooters. The bottom position worked for the 10-year-old, but with difficulty. I can use either the 1st or 2nd positioning hole depending on my riding style, but the 1st hole is most comfortable. I think this is a really grown up scooter, the 3rd hole (the highest) can take a fairly tall person. Wheels are above average 200mm. I was hesitant to go with a 230mm front wheel, so 215mm was just perfect. What I like least about this scooter is the brake. It requires very little effort. It's much easier to slow down and stop on the Razor Scooter. The ride is smooth and easy on smooth surfaces. You will feel every bump on rough road. I don't get stuck in small cracks or trip over small rocks, but of course I have to avoid big cracks and potholes. The Razor has traditional foam grips, while the London has cool rubber grips that definitely don't help dampen the vibrations of a bumpy ride. Although the rubber grips certainly offer a more secure grip. Immediately after riding the Razor A5 DLX and the London scooter, the London model seems to require more pushing power, perhaps due to its weight or the fact that the deck is slightly off the ground. But the descent is amazing. So to me this is a wonderful quality adult cruising scooter suitable for a large adult/teen. It has a few flaws, but it's better than other scooters I've reviewed. My (high) expectations have been met so far. I would like to try two other models, NYC in particular. I was not paid nor reimbursed in any way to write this review.
