It's easy to make a lamp, but difficult to make a great lamp. We were looking for a great floor lamp to light up our bedrooms and ended up with this one partly because it has a good remote control and partly because its color temperature can be adjusted. The installation is quite easy. The stand is solid and heavy, with a soft-touch material underneath that touches the ground. The power cord is long enough to reach the outlet. The remote uses AAA batteries - I put 2 eneloop in and didn't use the ones that came with it. The most important thing about this lamp is the adjustable color temperature. We used to have 2 light bulbs, cool daylight and cozy warm white, for different uses. Now we only need one and just change it as we like. We use cool white and full brightness when watching shows and games, and switch to warm white and low brightness before night. The woman can turn the light on and off with the touch control on the lamp, and I can also control it from my side with the remote control. Very comfortable. I'm buying another one for our kids room.
