About me - Former technician only a year and a half who does the vast majority of repairs himself. If you don't need a hoist or engine hoist, I usually do it. So I just had a painful experience with the Foxwell NT510 which has a great reputation for BMW. But I couldn't get it to check for specific modules on my 2012 535i. To their credit, Foxwell helped me for several weeks before finally agreeing to a full refund. I saw this and knew that Autel had an excellent reputation for importing software to Europe and gave it a try. I wanted a couple of their $400 scanners but just had trouble justifying the cost. The benefit of this is that you get a ton of options, and the downside is that you pay for upgrades (usually at least $150 per year). It was easy to set up and really easy to use. It scans tons of modules and gets lots of live data in the form of charts that can be easily manipulated by range, C or F, display type, etc. Example: change transmission oil on this car (I don't think any car fluid is really "for life"), you need to complete the last charge within a certain operating temperature range - this tool gives you real-time data. if yours is bad you can easily see it because all 4 are displayed at the same time on the same screen when you are driving). It can even tell you which door is open - I think that's useful if you're having trouble with a door contact sensor. What can't he do? As far as I can tell, no active two-way programming (e.g. battery programming) is done. This means that you cannot change the settings or program modules - e.g. B. adjust the transfer case or set / initialize the settings of the window module. It sucks because Foxwell was supposed to do something like that, but I didn't like this tool. Keep in mind that I've spent a total of 10 minutes on this tool, but so far it's incredible value for most users who need live data and manufacturer specific codes. Even if you're not a home mechanic, it's good to get the codes when the lights come on (or the iDrive warning comes on) and do some research online (there's a button next to read the code that will search you on google). and learn so the mechanics don't completely overwhelm your lies. EXCELLENT AUTEL - this product has been in development for a long time and you nailed the value proposition. I would pay twice as much for customization and programming, but I understand that you need to protect your $1,000+ professional scanners. But if you're listening, my wallet is ready. I will update this review as I learn more about this tool. But so far I like it.
