Review on πŸŽ™οΈ Rode Deadcat Wind Shield: Ultimate Sound Protection for VideoMic, NTG1, NTG2, and WSVM Microphones, Black by James Roper

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great microphone but unreliable in windy conditions.

So I've been using Rode mics for YEARS. I have two NTG-2 microphones (Rode NTG2 Condenser Shotgun Microphone) and I really like the quality and performance. Addition to my arsenal. It's very solidly made, good short (but not too short) cable to connect to your camera, excellent quality (even in noisy situations). even in noisy environments with lots of people and music), and it came with a Deadcat Wind Muff that should greatly reduce wind noise. Make sure to bring some 9 volt batteries (they say they last 70 hours but I've only used the mic for a total of 12 hours so far and haven't noticed any battery/quality loss). Here are the, I bought: Duracell Procell 9 volt batteries, 12-pack I'm not sure if it's not working properly, but it's either the built-in mic windscreen or the deadcat windscreen, but I recently had a moderately windy shoot Environment (wind/gusts 5-15 mph) and I have to say the sound is bad. to the point where I fear the client will listen to the tone. I had really high hopes for this as windshields are designed to reduce wind without disturbing the sound of what needs to be heard. Honestly, I'd mute a little audio if it means I can still hear people who need to be heard. Wind noise is the ultimate star rating killer for me. Either reduce noise or don't advertise it as a "foam windscreen that minimizes handling and wind noise to keep your recordings crystal clear" as I have everything but "crystal clear sound". I hope Rode fixes this windy mess.
