This needs to be modified (and I'll show the solution I came up with) if you want to install it on a Wrangler manual transmission (if you want the complete safety part of the mind ). I suspect the transmission cooler for the automatic transmission makes accessing this lock much more difficult. I installed the lock (tying the lock to my ignition key was a breeze and it worked perfectly) and immediately attempted to pick it. This took me 10-15 seconds. If I were a would-be thief, after realizing the hood won't open, I would try to see what's blocking its movement by looking down and noticing the lock. First instinct would be to reach for it to see if you can move, and BINGO simply unhooked the hood from the lock and the hood was open. My solution was to create a plate with sheet metal on the back of the lock and rivet it. This process only took maybe 2 hours and makes accessing the back of the lock an impossible task. Also, I don't know if this is unique to my mug or not, but the lock itself has a good 3/4 inch of play in the closed position, which seems like a lot of movement for the cam. stylish castle. I am giving this product 3 stars because the product works as intended and it is very easy to recognize your key but as I had to modify it to give it the security I wanted with the hood lock I gave it 2 stars deleted. The plate on the back has to be done from the start because I don't see it getting in the way of the automatic wrangler's operation and preventing those of us with manual wranglers from bypassing the lock so easily. UPDATE 11-09-17. I contacted the company that makes this product and told them my problem. They informed me that they make a plate that attaches to the back of this product to allow the hood to be properly attached when fitted to a manual transmission Wrangler. You can choose to make a backplate like mine, or you can contact the company for an additional backplate at no additional cost other than shipping.
